The Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (hereinafter referred to as “the Contracting Parties“),
Desiring to strengthen friendly relations between their two countries, and to encourage and further develop cooperation in the fields of Education, Science and Culture,
Being convinced that such cooperation contributes to a better mutual understanding and to strengthening of bilateral relations at various levels,
Have agreed as follows:
Article 1
The Contracting Parties shall develop mutual cooperation in the fields of education, culture and science and to this end support direct cooperation and contacts between universities, other educational, scientific, research, and cultural institutions and organisations.
The Contracting Parties shall further encourage the exchange of university teachers, students, scientists, experts and artists.
Article 2
The Contracting Parties shall exchange information and documentation regarding their educational programmes and regulations and shall cooperate in the subject of equivalence of diplomas, certificates and degrees.
Article 3
The Contracting Parties shall encourage the exchange of curricula, school books and educational publications such as documents and information related to educational institutions in the two countries.
Article 4
The Contracting Parties shall encourage cooperation between sports organisations as well as participation in sports events in the countries of the Contracting Parties.
The Contracting Parties shall encourage contacts between young people and youth organisations of the two countries.
Article 5
The Contracting Parties shall endeavour to acquire a better knowledge of the culture of the other Contracting Party and encourage cultural contacts and events of all types.
Article 6
The Contracting Parties shall exchange information on opportunities for learning language and literature of the other Contracting Party and support the participation of university teachers and students at summer language courses.
Article 7
The Contracting Parties shall encourage direct cooperation between their news agencies, radio and TV institutions and exchange journalists visits of the two countries, and to exchange information and publications in different fields.
Article 8
The Contracting Parties shall encourage cooperation in special education, local community development, family consulting and social welfare.
The Contracting Parties shall cooperate and exchange experience in the field of the development of local self - government and the activities of local communities in the realisation of tasks from Paragraph 1 hereof.
Article 9
The concrete cooperation in culture as well as in science, research and technology shall be regulated by special programmes agreed upon within the framework of mixed commissions.
Article 10
The Contracting Parties shall exchange experiences, researchers and studies in the field of primary health care.
Article 11
The present Agreement shall come into force on the day of the exchange of notes on its ratification through diplomatic channels.
The present Agreement shall remain in force for five years and shall be automatically renewed for subsequent five year periods unless either Contracting Party denounces it by written notification through diplomatic channels six months prior to the expiration of the five year period.
Done at Ljubljana on 10th November 1999 in three original copies, in the Slovene, Arabic and English languages, all texts being equally authentic. In case of different interpretation, the English text shall prevail.
