The British Embassy Ljubljana presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia and has the honour to refer to the Agreement between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the Republic of Slovenia (together, "the Parties") for the Promotion and Protection of Investments done at Ljubljana on 3 July 1996 ("the Agreement").

Further to discussions which have taken place between the Embassy and the Ministry, the Embassy has the honour to propose on behalf of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland ("the United Kingdom") the following:

1. The Parties agree to expressly terminate the Agreement; and

2. Notwithstanding Article 15 of the Agreement, following the termination of the Agreement, the provisions of the Agreement shall cease to have effect in respect of investments made while the Agreement was in force.

If the aforementioned proposal is acceptable to the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, the Embassy has further the honour to propose that this Note together with the Note of the Republic of Slovenia in reply shall constitute the Agreement between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Republic of Slovenia on Termination of the Agreement between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for the Promotion and Protection of Investments signed at Ljubljana on 3 July 1996 ("the Termination Agreement").

Each of the Parties shall notify the other in writing, through diplomatic channels, of the completion of the procedures required by its law for the entry into force of the Termination Agreement. The Termination Agreement shall enter into force on the date of the later notification.

The British Embassy Ljubljana avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia the assurances of its highest consideration.

In reply, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has the honour to inform the British Embassy that the Government of the Republic of Slovenia accepts the foregoing proposal and confirms that Note No. 11/2021 of the United Kingdom of 31 March 2021 and this Note in reply shall constitute the Agreement between the Republic of Slovenia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on Termination of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the Promotion and Protection of Investments, done at Ljubljana on 3 July 1996, which shall enter into force on the date of the receipt of the notification by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia of the completion of its respective internal procedures.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the British Embassy Ljubljana the assurances of its highest consideration.
